Zheng Mengmei graduated from Hubei Institute of Fine Arts and currently lives and works in Beijing and Shenzhen. Her works are based on paintings, while placing ready-made products, or materializing a two-dimensional plane canvas, that is, implanting installations and sculptural language in the paintings, creating an illusion of truth and falseness. These works mostly use blue and dark grey tones and orderly arranged geometric shapes, which give people a sense of quiet and rational form. But when you enter the real context of the work, you will find that there is an intense emotional world hidden under the appearance of the form-even the artist's name for the work contains a metaphor for life and emotion. Under the surface of the post-modern city, the real face of the urban people's feelings is hidden-truth, fashion, concrete, but absurd, magic, abstract! The dual juxtaposition of juxtaposition in Zheng Mengmei's works is an attempt to face the conflict. From a linguistic point of view, this series of works is also very meaningful. Shenzhen is an immigrant city. After many artists gathered in Shenzhen and lived in Shenzhen, they began to move from their original realism, expression or traditional style of painting to abstract interpretation. Zheng Mengmei's series of works is precisely in a transitional middle zone, from which a regional linguistic context can be seen, just as the initial stage of the development of abstract painting, the explorations and attempts made by the supremacist painters.

In a modern society that is becoming more and more alienated, due to the tremendous changes in itself, our judgment of the interaction between the three things, consciousness and existence, needs to jump out of the existing cognition to reconsider. British empiricist philosopher Berkeley believes that "to be is to be perceived", which suggests there is a priori or existing cognitive experience. However, the materialization of people and consciousness and the alienation of society has rebuilt the old order, resulting in a vast difference between perception and reality. Contemporary art is often based on this difference to question the reality behind the appearance or challenge and deconstruct the inherent cognitive experience. Zheng Mengmei's works are based on this discussion of the difference between perception and reality.

The discussion about object and space will continue to deepen in modern society with further alienation. As far as Zheng Mengmei is concerned, putting the Appearance in the picture metaphorically expresses the inner emotion, or, it is also a process of unbundling, which is a reflection or cognition reconstruction of its existence. Zheng Mengmei's works are based on the discussion of the difference between perception and reality.
